Azur at The Marina Pavilion in Hastings will host its first ever ‘Grand Gay Extravaganza’ on Saturday 29th September to raise funds for HIV and sexual health charity Terrence Higgins Trust. The venue will donate £1 to the charity for each ticket sold and guests will also have a chance to take part in a charity raffle on the evening. The funds raised will help Terrence Higgins Trust provide services and support for people living with HIV locally.
The brand-new event will feature entertainment from drag queen, Tony Sinclair and music from the past and present. Party-goers will also be invited to take part in a ‘Mad Hatter’s Sea Party’ themed fancy dress competition, with a prize on offer for the best-dressed Mad Hatter in attendance. The night will be capped off with a fireworks display outside the pavilion.
Staff and volunteers from Terrence Higgins Trust will be on hand throughout the evening, handing out free condoms and providing confidential information on sexual health and services available in the region.
Daniel Murray, HIV Services Co-ordinator for Terrence Higgins Trust in East Sussex, said: “We can’t wait to join the crowd of Mad Hatters at what promises to be a fantastic seaside spectacular in Hastings and we’re thrilled that the organisers at Azur are using the evening to raise funds for Terrence Higgins Trust.
“There are more people with HIV living on the south east coast of England than ever before and the number of people being diagnosed is on the rise. This fun evening is a great chance to talk about sexual health and the money raised will help to ensure that people with HIV locally can access the support they need.”
Tickets for the ‘Grand Gay Extravaganza’ cost £7 in advance or £10 on the night. Students will be able to purchase tickets on the door for £8 with ID. The first 50 people through the doors on the evening will receive a complimentary cocktail on arrival.
